Recurve
Rollerball pen
Spring 2008
Marksman Design Award - Design the Perfect Pen competition entry
The shape of Recurve was guided by a small-scale ergonomic research and inspired by the modern recurve bow, as used by archers in the Olympics and many other competitive events. The untraditional shape of the pen aims for a more relaxed writing hold. Less force is needed and less strain is suffered as the pen leans on the writer’s hand. A mock-up model out of PVC and styrofoam was built to study the ergonomics of the pen. The model was adjusted and shaped multiple times before an optimal feel was landed on. |
